It’s more than history – today’s consumers are active participants

Written by: Trails of 1812

“Instead of just observing, taking pictures, buying a ticket to an attraction, when you travel you want to be engaged in the community. Experiential tourism is beyond a trend now, it’s mainstream and by focusing on this area it will make tourism operators more competitive and result in more dollars for themselves.”

Paul Nursey
Director of Product Innovation and Enhancement at the Canadian Tourism Commission

Trails of 1812 adds an important layer to the historical base

In addition to the historical aspects that will form a large part of the overall 1812 Bicentennial celebrations, Trails of 1812 will add an array of 1812-themed experiential layers of activities that focus on the desires of today’s consumers:

  • Outdoor experiences like hiking, walking, geo-caching, rock climbing and horseback riding
  • Casual and competitive adventure such as running, on- and off-road biking, canoeing, boating
  • Winter activities such as casual and competitive skiing, snowmobiling, snowshoeing, dogsledding and ice climbing

Do you fit into those categories? Then join today for a free membership.

Basic Trails of 1812 membership and listings are free – other opportunities are unlimited.
